FREE Private Pilot Pre-Solo Written Exam

According to FAR 61.87(b), a student pilot is required to “demonstrate satisfactory aeronautical knowledge” through the use of a written examination from his/her instructor prior to solo flight.  This test must include sections from FAR 61 and 91, airspace rules and procedures for the airspace where the solo will be performed, and specific information on the flight characteristics and operating limitations of the aircraft that will be flown. 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

Once the test is complete, the instructor must review all the incorrect answers to this test prior to authorizing him/her to fly solo.  In addition to the other solo endorsements, an endorsement must be made stating that this has been accomplished (reference AC 61.65)
